with the thinning posts about a new sport quad, what does everyone else think is gonna be released??? who would really want a 600 or 650 cc engine from the XR line that is air cooled? or would a CRF450 engine be better.... hmm I, myself believe that Honda will stick the CRF450 engine into the 400EX frame, do some trimming and cutting and come out with a whooping 450EX with reverse or a 6 speed tranny... i would push with a reverse over the 6 gears... the 650XR engine makes about 50-60 hp right? when the CRF450 makes 55 hp at the crank... i'm sure to almost positive the CRF450 engine could be even more competitive in a quad frame then the 400EX, Raptor, 250R, or the banshee... no one can be positive what Honda will release, (well unless your with the company and are working on it) the only thing that will prove it is time and i'm saving up $$$ for the time

The XR650 is liquid cooled and yes, I would like the se the 450 motor in a quad before the 650. But, if they would used the 450's design and make it 550 or 600cc I would love it if they could keep teh weight down.

Dood, you don't need the six gears. Reverse with a 5 speed will be nice, but not reverse with a 6 speed. You just don't need that 6th gear. They even said they could of made the DS 650 with a 4 speed. KTM makes the 520sx with a 4 speed and its one of the baddest 4-strokes out. Also the XR650R is liquid cooled, not air. And I think the xr650R motor would be better because its a torque monster, and you want lots of torque in a quad. Thanks,Joe

Umm...The CRF450 is a torque monster to. It wouldn't bother me which engine got put in it. For one reason, both engines are huge and will make a 4-wheeler fly. The other reason, I'm not going to get one.

The CRF450R motor has a counterbalance, no other Honda motorcycle motors do. What does that tell you since all quad motors need to be counterbalanced to keep down vibration.

As a friend of mine and I were trying to talk the Honda rep. into a 600 or 650ex last weekend at Redbud, he asked us what we would think of the new 450 motor in a quad. Hmmmm... Wonder why he brought that up???

The RC450F motor will be ok. And the XR650R motor is counter balanced. I hope honda makes a quad with an Aluminum frame. No the cannondale will have some competition.

An "XR600EX" would suck and you'd be better off with the "XR400EX". An "XR650EX" would weigh ALOT and make good HP and be a trail cruiser type.A "CR450F, TRX450R" would signify a new revolution.
