Hey guys I'm new to the Honda side of the forum and I'm wondering what type of paddle tire's you all recommend. My EX is stock except for a White Brothers E-Series pipe, air filter, and rev box. Thank's in advance.

 

I have run 6, 8, and 10-paddle Edges on a lightly modified 400. The 6 and 8 work OK, but the tires seemed to dig holes a lot, like the bike has to much torque (running a 14-tooth sprocket). I have a friend who works at Skat-Trak and he recomended the 10-paddle. I know, 10-paddles is piped Banshee country, but it has helped. The disadvantage is that as you add more paddles you add more weight!!

 

If you are going to run a stock or piped 400ex a very good paddle is the 22x11x8 7 paddle glider. Its light weight, spins easily and does not rob a bunch of HP when climbing.

 

I run sand skate II's on my built EX and love them, though I might switch to 8 paddle hauler for the Oregon dunes. If you have good dune front tires get 20X10X10- 8 paddle haulers for the rear. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

I have been using 20" 8 paddle Haulers for a year now and I have no complaints. Some people say that you compromise cornering ease when you use straight paddles but I don't notice any pushing when turning. I don't know what other paddle tires weigh but Haulers are very light - I'd say they weigh the same as the stock tires.

 

I would recomend sand skate II's. My brother had haulers, 8-paddle, w/ stock fronts and the front wheels were hardly ever on the ground, but the thing would climb anything. He sold them to get sand skate II's and has had no complaints. The v-paddles are for more of playing around and stuff instead of climbing or dragging. Good luck.
