I am looking for an aftermarket expanded gas tank for my 400EX. I currently have the 4.3 gallon tank from IMS but I can not get my hand guards on with it. The tank is for the most part fine but they have put these stupid wing looking things on the top that fit just barely below the bars. I can't imagine why they put them there. They may get an additional .1 - .2 gallons out of 'em but it is such a nuisance, it is definitely not worth it.

Any recommendations on another manufacturer would be great.

Regards,

Dennis

Dennis,

Do you really need that extra fuel?

I guess I don't ride as long as you. I haven't needed to even use reserve yet.

Have you modified yours? Do you ride in the sand?

With the bigger tank, do you ever hit reserve?

RM,

I definitely don't need to extra capacity for riding recreationally. However, I race hare scrambles and a few GNCC's, and that can mean riding up to 2 1/2 hours and over 40 miles. Not having to stop for gas can make a big difference, so the bigger tank is a real advantage.

I really thought it would be cumbersome at first, but now I don't even notice it is there. If only I could get my brush guards to fit all would be well.

Regards,

Dennis
