In a drag race on hard pack what would win the 650 or the 400ex?

Since both quads have around the same top speed, the one thats gets off the line quiker will win...meaning the 400ex, unless the driver wheelies, flips, and breaks down on the line.

when we raced it was a rolling start. i kinda let him the jump and i shirt shifted into second..then i was about half throttle and i was right next to him then i opened it up and he stood still. we didnt do a stopped start but im sure the kawi would get the jump due to the wheelie of the ex. but it is a nice machine!! i cant believe it was near $8K and dint even have a hitch!! lol

Well..........
I just finished breaking in my Prairie650.
During the first few rides I had a couple friends wanting to race, but only allowed half throttle until 10 hours so I has to decline.
UNTIL TODAY!!!!
After changing to synthetic oil and changing the other fluids I was finally ready to open it up.
First victim was my buddy Mark,(2001 Scrambler), I pretty much ate him up from beginning to end with a top speed of about 65 mph and him about 10 bike lengths back.
Then came the real competition Johnny,(2000 400ex), I used 4 wheel drive this time so I would have better traction off the line.
Although quicker off the line than the Scrambler I still had at least two bike lengths on him by the time we reached top speed
So to answer your question the Prairie650 Rules!!!!

Umm...the scrambler is faster than the 400ex. The 400ex may be quicker off the line, but the scrambler will whoop it in a drag race. I haven't raced a Prarie 650 in drag race, but I have up a wide mountain trail. Needless to say when I got to the top, I was waiting on him. I have a 300ex that will stay beside a stock 400ex. Yes mine handles better but I did give him a head start...I believe it was around 30-45 seconds. I would say he was atleast a Half of a mile in front of me, but when I got to the finish part, I couldn't hear nor see him.

97300exGuy, there's no stock Scramblers that will beat a 400EX in a drag race. I've raced a 500 Scrambler 4x4 HO with my brother's 400EX and all the Scrambler saw was the 400EX's rearend, in a distance.

Zeebo, in 1997 Polaris came out with the Scrambler 500. It had the same motor as the Sportsman 500s. They soon realized that, along with the owners of them, that it needed more power, especially to keep up with the Scrambler 400 4x4 2 stroke. At this time the Scrambler 400 2x4 was called the Sport 400L. In 1998, Polaris threw on a 40mm carb, changed the cam design, and beefed up the engine to handle the extra power, on what they called the Scrambler 500 HO. I think this is the same year it got concentric drive and shaft to the front also. In the tests, the Scrambler 500 High Output was now just as fast as its Scrambler 400 2-stroke brother. The Sportsman 500 High Output just came out in 2001. If you don't believe me, check Polaris' website. Look for the Scrambler 500 4x4, it will talk about the high output engine in the specs and features.
