umm no...i can't stand all these lil guys goin around on the forums claiming the 250EX to be the best trail quad. shut up. until i see the pros running 250EX's and winning with them there is no way i a 250ex is a better trail ride than a 400EX and maybe even a raptor. you can say whatever you want about oh its shaft drive and auto clutch and its small blah blah blah. if they were so good you'd hear about them winning gncc races but you don't. gimmie a 400EX in the trails any day. and no i'm not saying this just i have one either.

I test rode a 250ex when I was looking for a quad for my wife. She liked it but it was too light in the front end for her. I'm 210 lbs and 6 ft 1 tall and I thought the little quad ran pretty good. When I was riding it in the field beside the dealer I had a wheelie clear into 3rd gear. First time I pulled up on it to wheelie I almost pulled it back on me, the salesman shook his head and walked back inside.
I bought a 220 Bayou for the wife so when you say a 220 beat you I would have to say your nuts or you might possibly weight 400 lbs.
Two of the guy's I go riding with has a 300ex and a 400ex, and I have a TBoss. On the wooded trails around here they can't lose me, but on the straight aways is when they gain distance. I know mine is not a sport quad but it makes me feel good that I make the Trailtank keep up with them on the trails. Also it is nice to always have a utility in the group of riders, for pulling the other quads out of the mud and pulling them home when one is broken.
All of the guys I hang with call people who ride 400ex's Flintstones. You know because how reverse works on them.

<< Is their a lot of slow technical riding in those races you mention?
Didn't think so... >>
umm yeah they do. have u ever seen a gncc race? if not then you need to shut up cuz there are some really tough trails that are TIGHT. i have trails like that around here too...and maybe a smaller quad would be kinda nice for that part but i need more power. there are lots of more open parts too. overall there is not a bike i'd rather be on than my 400 (exept a z400).

I personally like riding my cousins Recon. I know its not as fast as my 300EX. But its got this quality to that is always begging you to go faster. And even with the short travel it has a great ride to it. And its super easy to wheelie. My 300EX just has this feel to it like its telling you "you know I have power I don't need to prove it" while the Recon is always got that little more power on hand, and you keep getting amazed by how much more you can push it. The only thing I don't like aboiu the Recon is the rear rack, everytime I lean back it hits me. Now as good as the Recon is I can only guess that the 250EX is better. So if the Recon's don't suck then the 250EX's probably don't suck either. Every that says they suck are usually the ones with bigger faster machines, well it's obvious the 250EX won't contend it wasn't meant to. Plus the 250EX isn't just a begginners machine, if it's anything like the Recon, then it's most likely just plain fun and exhilirating to ride.
