bent axle
#1
hey, I was wondering if many people bend there axles on there 400ex's. I am wondering if mine is bent but I can't tell. I think this because when all four wheels are on the ground it drives pretty straight but when I am wheely-ing I dart off to the left. I am pretty sure the tire pressures are the same. If it is bent, what kind of axle should I run and how long should it be for mx. I was thinking a lonestar +4 thanks

Good idea KKKiller (love that name!!) When I had a bent axle on my Recon I KNEW it. I had to drive home feeling like I was on whoopes while I was on a smooth dirt road!! However, with my new 400exwhen ever I need a new one I'm going to get a andjustable one. For some reason I don't feel comfortable on a +4 axle with stock A arms. I feel like I'm riding a three wheeler. If you have +2 a arms then go with a +4 if not I would sitck with a +2. I'm gettin the adjustable so I can keep it at 2 then move up to 4 with +2 a arms. This is just my opinion though. I have a philospy about opinions some people might remeber it

I would think the least amount of irregularity in the axle would show up with a simple jig-type setup pointed directly at the center or axis of the axle. Just about anything should work so long as it and the axle remain stationary on the same axis with the rear of the ATV elevated so that the wheel can be rotated by hand. Then just look for the least amount of wobble as the axle is rotated near the stationary pointer.

And Dont forget, if only one wheel is wobbling, then it might be the rim, which is alot easier and less expensive a fix. I have(pretty sure at least) a bent rim on my blaster right now, not too bad, but I can tell its the rim because it doesnt bounce the hole back end. Thats how I heard u can tell.
