My friend is in the market for a new quad, and his current two choices are the Scrambler500 2x4 and the 400EX. He's going to be riding mostly on trails (some smooth, some rough), maybe just a little mud (he already has a Kodiak, so he doesn't really need another mud machine), and, obviously, is looking for something sporty. The dealership is asking about the same price for both of them. Also, this kid is 14, 5'8", 130lbs., and has plenty of experience on other quads. The manual clutch on the EX is no problem.
Anybody have any suggestions? I've been saying 400EX, but I'm just trying to get another opinion for him.

Thanks

If he wants to go fast, do jumps, slide sideways, and go like hell in general he should get the Honda.

If he is a total non-rider that cannot understand how a clutch and gears work, likes to work on things just for the fun of it, isn't interested in any sort of racing or competitive activity, never leaves the ground, and has too much money for his own good, then he should get the Polaris.

LOL, well, the gears are no problem for him. He's been riding an '86 Lt125 for way too long now, which is manual shift, and when he drove my friend's Warrior, he picked up on the manual clutch more quickly than anyone else that tried it.

Thanks, I'll tell him what you think.

87R,
Just when I think I haven't seen a stupid moronic post for awhile here you come. I have no understanding of gears. That's why my mower & truck are automatics. You've got it all figured out.

Glad you liked my post Andy...

..and actually, it sounds like YOU have it all figured out since YOU don't own an automatic quad. Heck, sounds like even your wife has gears figured out with her 400ex and all.

By the way, congrats on the mower and truck.
