Hell yeah Tecate's are mean little SOB's.A friend of mine had a T4 with DG exhaust, .30 over bore, and Boyseen racing reeds.He lined up against a 2000' Banshee with FmF fatties and power core silencers, and K&N filter.They was on a downhill paved road...it was about a 1/4 mile stretch of road.The T4 had the banshee till 4th, and then the banshee started pullin him.At the end it was about 2 quad lenghts that the T4 lost by.I still think the tecate could have won if the my dumbass friend hadnt worn his hat....he was trying to hold it down the whole time he was going.It was funny though, watching come barreling down the street wide open holding his aht with one hand=)hehehe

The T4 is not going to give you much heat on the track.....the drags is a different story. You say you are going to ride MX and such, trust me, you will have no worries, even on a stock 400EX. You will be lucky if you even see a Tecate4 show up. The mods you can get for the 400ex will make you scream! You will run right with the 250r's if you are setup right. Plus you will have a newer bike and parts will be easier to find. You sound like you will be a part time racer, so you won't have to put up with the normal 2 stroke mantenance, kick starter, mixing fuel and all that other bull when you want to go ride with your buddies. Just hit the starter and go, and you won't have to worry if your plug is fouled and it will start? I think the only other option is the Raptor, it does have reverse, but, if you never had reverse (like me), you don't miss it!

You are right the T4 would have won. I would love to line my T4 up with that Shee, he would not be pulling me after 4th gear! There are some Shee's with some big time mods that can beat me, but the Raptor doesn't have a chance.
PS)Tell your buddy he might want to invest in a brain bucket, that ball cap does not create much defense between the pavement and his head!
