I have a new K&N filter coming i was wondering if I should re-jet the carb or not. If so what size should I get I have a 2001 300EX

You should not need to re-jet. I have a two stroke quad, and a four stroke quad, both with K&N filters. No jetting change was necessary.

 

Just ride it and see. When I put mine on all I did was turn the fuel/air mixture screw once and it ran fine.

 

that's whid i did on my 250X, after i put the k&N filter on, i rode it for about 5 hours, and it was running a little lean, so i just adjusted my mixture with the screw in the carb...check your manuel to make sure which one... and now it runs fine

 

It has 2? I don't have a manual so I don't know. anyways this seemed to control the idling and mixture, but I guess i doesn't. I adjusted the one thats got the hose behind it and goes up to the carb. Wheres the other at?

I just went out and checked on the bike, and there was only one screw...checked the manual to be sure too!

I must have been thinking of the lawnmower or something!! sometimes my brain kinda gets ahead of itself.

bermbanger, How do you like your Cobra exhuast? did it give you any power increase? and i know that they sound good.

 

Its a cobra jet I think. It was on there when I got it so I couldn't tell you if it added power or not cuz I havn't rode a stock 300ex either. Its loud as hell, but it does have that 4 stroke sound to it and I like it. I'll probably be selling it in a while so if your interested let me know.
