well in woods mud rocks and handleing the 400ex is far supierior but in sand the banshee all the way and climbing would probably go to the banshee also but no by much , if you plan on doing trail riding and not reved up allt the time riding you should go with the 400ex both if all you care about is speed and power and not handling go with the banshee , overall the 400ex is probably a better quad , i personaly like the banshee . the down side is when you buy somethign for the banshee you usually need 2

the ex is a better handler and easier to maintane. but the banshee is much faster and the 2 stroke power is funner than 4 stroke anyday.

I would say the 400EX would be better for the type of riding you have listed. The Banshee just can't perform to it's utmost on the trails and rocks and woods, etc. It's better in the dunes. Also, the upkeep on a two-stroke can be a real pain in the ***. It seems every time we ride with two-strokes, we are either towing someone back or waiting for them to get it started, or we are bringing them gas. I mean, they have the speed when they are running well, but it seems that their downtime is just as common as their running time. I guess 4-strokes pay the price for reliability by not having the same powerband, and 2-strokes pay the price for having the powerband but not the reliability!

Anyway! Good luck with whatever you get!

Another thing to consider is that, in the sand, the 400 may not be as good a drag racer or hill shooter, it is a FAR better jumper...

As far as an overall package - 400EX without a doubt.

If you are strictly interested in hillshooting, top speed, and drag racing - the Banshee may be your choice.
