Ok I am 16 and work a Part Time Job at a grocery Store. So I was wondering that the ones of you that have a 300ex, Do you wish you would have waited longer and got a 400ex. I like the 400ex but I don't know if I can afford it right now. I like the looks of the 400ex over the 300ex also. I might have to go with a Recon or Rancher but I would like a sport quad because I don't have any use for racks. Thanks in advance. Matt

Here's what I did. I didn't have the money for a 400 either so I went out and bought a 250X. I got the X over the 300EX because it is kick start (less weight) and in stock trim it's faster then the 300EX. For what it would cost for me to buy a 400EX I can make my 250X faster and handle better and be lighter! I know some people are going to argue with me on this but for the money that it would take to buy a used 400EX you could just go out and mod a 250X or 300EX and make it faster then the 400 and still have money left over.

i bought the 300ex due to prior XP with a 250X and an older 300ex

Smooth powerband, power to take you everywhere. And i am so sick of the bandwagon my 400ex is better than your 300ex/warrior/raptor/banshee/mojave/ and whatever.

I bought my y2k 300ex for 3,500 and dumped little over 2,500 in it. And to me its the best quad in the world. I made it how i wanted.

need4speed,

okay man, i agree with you that the fact that the 250x and 300ex are good bikes, i own a 300ex myself, it's my pride and joy, but there's a reason everyone is jumpin on the band wagon. the 400ex is just a better all around bike,, and i'll say that, a guy that races a 300ex.. it's just as good in the woods, and better on the track.. sure you can build up 300s and 250 to run with them, but it cost a lot more money to get them better,a arms, shocks, motor work, tires, the 400 already has that stock, then if hthe guy on the 400 spends the same amount of money you did, then you're in the smae hole you were before, still slower and less of a bike.. i love my 300 and i used to want to build it up to beat all those 400exs, but i got to thinkin, if i sell mine now, and put all the money into a 400ex as i have in my 300ex, i'll have a badda$$ bike, ready to run with the big boys, instead of wishin i ccould, so, i'm jumpin on that band wagon too, it just makes sense man, but i understand y you want to build yours up so much, i was inthe same place before, good luck with the 250x

Hey 400ex2001 I noriced your in North Carolina. Theres a place in Mississiippi that sells Honda's for about $800 less. You can pick up a 250ex for $3,100 or a 300ex for $4,100. Those prices could make a big difference.

Thanks for all the replys. I am still in a hole though. I want the 400ex more but the monthly payments would probably be to much for a knew one. I don't want a used 400ex because most of them have mods on them and I want mine stock for Reliability.

400EX2001 have you looked at the payment difference between a 300 and 400? What is it like $20 or $30 bucks more a month? If you have to buy a new one....do yourself a favor and buy the 400, and just find a way to make payments. It would take more coin to get the 300 up to par with the 400 than the price difference you pay buying it new.
