What kind of place should i race at. I am thinking loose sand. Any tips or technics i should know about to beat him if it is possible. I only know about atv's so dirtbikes are pretty new to me. he says it will do 75 but i was like no. bs guy. I am sorry if this topic was covered but I would like some more answers if possible. Yeah, I think he will win too. But you can change your sprockets to make your top speed different. I don't know which way to tell you to go, bigger or smallerr, maybe someone else could help too. Hope I helped at least a little.

Well I've never ridden a 400ex, but I raced my Cr125 with my friends Banshee on pavement and I got him the whole way. So if the 400ex can beat a Banshee on take off you might be able to get the 125, but top speed the 125 will win for sure. It was about even with the Banshee's speed up top. Low 70's. His number of 75 probably isn't very far off, but it does seem a little high. It's closer than any of the stock Banshee owners that claim there quads will do 85 (like my friend). If I were you I'd race him on loose gravel if possible. Maybe sand wouldn't be too bad either. Just my opinion. Later.

Come on man, the 125 weighs 200 pounds less and makes 10 more HP.

hey gary, do it matter? My bros raced a bored KX 125 with his DG piped 400 and won every time and they changed riders on the kx like 3 times and he won by at leas a bike length. Maybe if you were in a LONG race the bike would win

Hell yeah it matters, its called the law pshyics, mass in motion, less weight more HP.The 125 tops out at 70 MPH and gets there faster,an XR400 won't beat a 125 let alone 400EX.

I agree, the 125 will kill the 400ex. My friends modded yz125 would smoke my banshee, My opinion is that a stock 125 is quicker that heck and the top speed is ok, but faster all the way around than the 400ex

I've raced my 400 against my sons CR125 many times and it seems whichever one of us gets the jump at the start wins. If he spins his tires a little he can't catch me and likewise if he gets the jump at the start I can't catch him. My quad has an automatic though. A 400 with a clutch is a different story.

The 125 will walk all over you. I don't care what anybody says. Unless the guy on the 125 is a really bad rider expect to get blown away. Nuff said.
