300EX shocks?
#2
The 300EX has decent suspension, dont get me wrong. But, if you weigh very much, and ride aggressivly, you dont have to get very high. The shocks heat up and fade, then they start to bottom even easier. I stick with my R for jumping, but my 300EX is an awesome woods quad.

I'm 160 and I have the repound set all the way on my shocks and so far I haven't been able to bottom them out. The highest I've gotten and landed flat would have to be about 5 feet maybe a little more. I'm getting works shocks in a little bit here becuase I don't want to have to worry about bottoming out my stockers when the time comes.

I weigh about 200, and race MX. I began with my 300EX. I started jumping it, and started bottoming out. I was getting oh, id say about 5 to 6 feet of air. I then bought works shocks for it, and i still wasn't happy with the way it flew. I bought my 250R and am now doing 6-10 feet high, 50-90 foot average jumps, without a hint of bottoming (WORKS Front, Custom Axis rear).

On my ex I can jump long and about 4 foot high without any poblems. Then if I head to the woods and find a small jump with some lift and go straight up and then down they bottom hard. I don't think I've ever bottomed the rear. Is it really necessary to get an aftermarket rear?

On my track, I'm hitting about 8-10' of air. I have stock shocks on mine and do not know if they will last. I still have the stock exhaust with the stock axel with Holeshots. I know that I have nearly bottomed out because I can see where the inside of the tire rubs the exhaust. This has happened because of landing on horizontal surfaces. But, hitting the landing makes it easy. Real easy. As long as you hit the landing, you should be fine.
