I was wondering if anyone has had any troubles with Hondas centrifigul clutches and Mobil 1. Secondarily I was wondering if if it could be used for foam air filtering oil. I wasn't aware of the breakdown problems with standard oil and foam till I was reading in here...(standard oil is what the dealer recomended) I was thinking the Mobil might be compatible being plastic based itself, but then it has seal expansion esters too which might cause problems. Lastly I have a tiny leak at the halfshaft seal on the front diff, anyone familiar with that, I have a post on that down in drivetrain, tires, suspension.

I've been using Mobil 1 in all my quads (trx90, 250x, 250ex, Recon, 400ex) since '95 and haven't had any problems. As far as using it for foam filter oil I don't know... it may work. I use the Bel-Ray stuff but I'm thinking about trying notoil. Anyone here try it?

I run 80/90 weight in my foam filters..its heavier and less prone to running to the bottom of the filter and collecting.

Moto, what weight do you use since there is no 10W-40 Mobil 1? I have used it in my cars for about 8 years and am planning to use it in my new Rancher ES.

They make: MX4T mobil 1 10w-40 specifically for 'sport bikes' probably need to custom order it from somewhere.

Just thought I'd add that.

Also, 10W-30 should be perfect from October on through May in my area anyhow.

EDIT ADDED:
Caught this off the official spec sheet for standard mobil 1 tri formula oil...

Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic Formula 10W-30 can be used anywhere an SAE 0W-30, 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40, 5W, 10W, 20W, 20 or 30 grade viscosity is recommended.

I use the automotive type 15w50 Mobil 1. Sometimes Wal-Mart has a special on it in the 5 quart jugs.

I heard running regular automotive type oil in your quad is bad for the clutch....
