used 400ex???

I need some help in buying a 2000 400ex. Please tell me what too look for and what to check for. It has some mods and i need to know how to check it out if there is anything special on these bikes. all the help is apprieciated

one thing i check for on any fourwheeler is if the rims are all dened in and scratched up bad on a new bike like that then is probably been beat . also look at the under side of the frame , if its all scratched and no paint then its probably been ridden in some relly rough terrain . And also put your finger in the motor oil and whenyou pull it out look at the oil if its black or dark brown then it hasnt been chaneged on time , if it looks like a milk shake and is really thin then the motor has water in it. look for those things and you should be set , in my opinion those are good things to check . i highly agree with kkkiller250x lol and check how worn the tires are and if things are bent like the bars tie rods ect.good luck this is only my suggestion

What I like to do is look at the plastic. If it is beaten to hell chances are the quad is too. If it is pretty good shape the quad probably is too but don't let that substitute for all the other suggestions they posted.
