Help with 300ex
#1
Ok my uncle has a 1992 Honda Fourtrax 300 4x4 and I have driven it quite alot. It has enough power for me but the acceleration is kind of slow, But what I want to know is, Does the 300ex have more power than my uncle's HOnda fourtrax 300 4x4? Does it accelerate faster and everything. Is the suspension better? Does the 300ex Wheelie easy? Thanks and sorry for the questions, Thanks in advance for all the help. I just want to thank REDTEAM,cstark, and 300EXKING for all the help. You guys are right the 300ex is just so much lighter and has more power. One thing I really like is the Disc brakes all the way around. Well I just wanted to let you guys know that I appreciate all the help. Thanks again Matt

The power is close to the same. You can wheelie like crazy on the EX because there is no weight in the front of it. The 4by has the front differential, drive shaft, front axles, etc(more weight). Plus it has an auto-clutch with does not engauge as fast as a maunual clutch. All of these things hamper the 4by's ability to wheelie. Not to mention different gear ratios, power robbing 4by system, and shaft drive.

Hey guys one more question about the 300ex. If I am about 145 pounds and 5'10" tall would I be cramped on the 300ex. I noticed when I was at the dealer and I sat on the 400ex and then went directly off of it and sat on the 300ex the 300ex sits lower. then I sit on the 250ex and it felt the same as the 400ex. So do you think I would be cramped? Thanks Matt

I don't think you will be cramped. My husband has a 400ex, and he like to ride my 300ex some of the time and he is 5'10. All depends on what you like, if you want more power, go with the 400ex, if you want comfort, try the 300ex. It sits lower and has a cushier seat. I like the handling on the 300ex much better, but that is just my opinion. And being a woman, it may not count for much! LOL.

I'm 6'1 and 165 pounds and I rode my cousin's 300EX before I got my 400. It felt fine, and I felt comfortable on it. It had good power and agility. Although after I got my 400 I realized that the 300 is a really good all-round bike. It does well on trails, tracks, and it's good for doing wheelies, donuts, and burnouts. Whereas the 400 hooks up and has a lot of power so it's more difficult to spin donuts. Sorry to stray from your question but I thought I'd throw that in as well... But you shouldn't feel cramped at all, but if you don't feel comfortable go ith the 400 because the most important thing, espically if you're going to be spending that much money is to feel comfortable with the bike you're riding. Just my 2 cents.
