Will a 500 scrambler with k&n air filter, Hot seat pipe, and a clutch kit out run a 400EX with pipes?

I have never seen them race, but if I had to guess I'd say that the 400ex would probably win.

Take a Polaris 400 with those mods and I think that it might be a different story.

Just my opinion.

I would say it would be a very close race from start to finish. But if i were betting money on it i would probably put it on the 400ex.

The 400 flat out kills it out of the hole, I know, I tried it. After that, according to atvsport's radar gun, the 400ex has a 10 mph advantage. There are no good pipes out for the scrambler (is white bros. making one yet?) so the advantage is 400ex there too.

Wow...I agree 100% that the 400ex probably wins, but I'm shocked that the Polaris won't break 60mph.

However, I have never driven the 500 so I don't know.

Go here, click on the dyno charts. It is a stock 1997 sport 400 and a modded 300ex. If they drag raced the ex would clearly win.

one of my friends has a Scrambler 500 2wd. It has a K&N filter, Full supertrapp Exhaust system, and a dyno jet kit. We went to an old abandent strip of runway at an airport and drag raced. First 3 gears on mine were even with him. once I hit 4th I steadly pulled away. He had all the disks in his pipe, and he used to have a hot seat and he said the supertrapp gave way better mid-top end power than the hot seat pipe. And it sounds like a cherry bomb exhaust on a 350 chev with all the disks. I was stock except I have 22" tires on back VS 20" stock. Gives me more top speed but slower acceleration. I would have had him in the first 3 gears if I had my stock tires, but it wouldn't make that big of difference. There was also a stock scrambler 500 4by4 that got totally blown away. the guy driving it weighed 220-230lbs though where I weigh 170, and the scrambler 2wd driver was 185lbs. In reality though, there isn't much difference when the scrambler is modified.
