polaris scrambler 400

For what it's worth, acording to the March 2000 issue of DirtWheels magazine, the Scrambler 400 4X4 will do 67 mph. A direct quote from that artical, "It hooks up and gets moving quicker than the Scrambler 500 and has it beat slightly on top-end speed (67 mph vs. 65 mph). It didn't say how they messured that speed, it may have been from the optional speedometer, in which case we can usume that they may be as much as a 5 mph error, which would still place the Scrambler 400 4X4 at a respectable 62 mph.
Anyone one with a Scrambler 400 4X4 who can messure the top speed with a GPS please let us know, I am thinking about buying this machine and would like info on it. How does it compare in a drag race with the 400EX?
Thanks,
Brian

My HPD race motor Sport did 83 mph on a dyno but only produced 42.5 hp at the wheel. After I spoke with Fasterthangas he informed me that dyno's are only true at the crank on Polaris, Daryl at HPD confirmed this to be true. With present set up..no way does the Sport see 83 mph.

Thats BS ! a stock polaris scambler will NOT go over 65!! I have a 250X with a speedometer which is accurate to -1 +1 mph and I ride with a guy on a scambler 400 and it can just barley pass me wide open when my speedo reads 55-60 depending on the terrain. Maybe you guys have some SUPER stock polaris's but the ones in NH don't even hit 65!
