I would go with the aluminum. True, they may not be as strong as the steel, but they if you hit something hard enough to bend the aluminum I don't think that a couple in.lbs of tensil strength is going to make much difference. Besides, the aluminum is a whole lot lighter. The 400 is a sport bike not a tank, keep it light.
As for the yellow straps. They are not the same yellow as the 400, they are more of a neon shade.

i have the ac racing on my 300ex. I have the red nets. The look good. I'm guessin you (the one wantin nerfs) has a yellow 400ex. If I were you, and since the yellow nets are Honda Yellow, I would go with black.

My AC Racing are stronger than anything I've seen. I bounce up and down on mine just to see how strong the are. They haven't bent yet. I like the mounting better on the AC. The DGs will scratch the frame. If thats not a big issue with you, then I can't tell you which ones to get. I do like my AC racing better than I did my DG. I had a set of DG but I wanted some where I could replace the nets. So I got AC. The new dgs do have the replacable nets, but mine didn't and I liked the looks of the AC Better.

Check on Graydons.
I have them on the DS. The tubing is bigger & the mounting is the strongest I found.
