Rubicon Question
#1
One of the magazine shootouts (big bore automatic utilities I think) dissed the Rubi for having poor engine braking (but better than the belt drives). They said you need to put it in ESP mode and pick a low "gear", to really make it work right. I presume this is because in the automatic modes the sensors are fishing for the right gear ratio, and they don't really realize you are going downhill. Anyway, has this been anybodys experience? I hadn't heard about it in the forum before. Maybe these magazine guys are just extra pickey?

I personally havent played with other engine braking quads, but mine works. Going down a steep hill it slow me to a decent speed without having to apply the breaks. When I first got my Rubi the engine braking almost sent me over the bars. Wasnt expecting any engine braking.

What I love about the Rubys engine braking is if I want more I run in D1 if I want less I run in D2.If I want engine braking like a geared tranny I run in esp mode. This tranny is like no other out there so smooth and versatile, with great engine braking.

I fully agree with the other posts... whoever wrote that article had their facts badly confused. The engine braking on my Rubi is amazingly good. On steep descents I rarely use the brakes, in fact, I often use the throttle so I don't get run over by they guys coming down behind me.
