krabill,
Did your "R" have any mods when it hit 90? If you were modded then sure it's possible.
However, if it was stock then 90 does seem a bit high. If it's true than that means that the Quadzilla is highly overated and the 250r trike is highly underated.
A friend of mine has one but I have never ridden with him when he was on it (he also has a 350x, a 200x, a Big Red and a Yamaha 225 so he has plenty to choose from). Maybe I can get him to come over this weekend and we can put the GPS on it.

She is not stock, it has pipe and silencer on it, jetted carb, bigger front sprocket by one tooth, I think it is a 16 and a fairly fresh set of rings. I have had it down paved road beside both a ford escort and a ninja 500 streetbike, both have comeback and said the same thing. I have now rung the front sproket and went to buy a new one, Stock they said was a 15 and thats all they had so I put it on. She did loose some top end, but its hard to keep her front on the ground!

No matter what I do to my trx250r it doesn't feel anywhere near as fast as my old ATC250R. It is the weight and the aerodymanics. My trx is much more modded than the atc I used to have and it just doesn't come close.
There is riding area down at the dade/broward county line we occationally jump in the turnpike where the speed limit is 70. I used to jump on the highway with my ATC I would tuck down and pass every car on the road. Now get on there with my highly modded TRX and I'm the slowest thing on the road. At these speeds the aerodymanics very important.
Look at the front of a quad, especially a TRX250R and all you see is this huge radiator/shroud thing that looks like a big scoop. And if you have uncut front fenders it is even worse.
