is there a specific quad that works but is a little on the playing side too? no, not the wolverine, i dont want a 4x4. a honda 300 2x4 is what i wanted, but is there something else out there?

well there is other quads that are on "the playing side too" other than a 300 honda. you could try a polaris trailboss 325.. or is that trail blazer.. hmmm. you could probably get a used one for pretty cheap. This is more of a recreational quad though, and might not be suited as well for work as a trx 300. Well you could look at any 300 class 2x4s for that matter. like the arctic cats or suzukis or the big bear.

 

kodiak 400 2x4

 

scrambler 400 2x4 or 500 2x4. the older lakota (not the sport kind). trail boss 325. all these quads are 2 wheel drives that can work or play and all can come with racks. also i'm pretty sure you can get yamaha warriors with a rear rack. my freind showed me this yamaha brochure and it said it can come optional with a rear rack.

Maby its just me but why would anybody want a 2 weel drive utility quad. For example a 400 sport 4x4 is a realy fun quad and it can still do utility stuff pretty well.

 

I just love my two wheel drive Recon. This machine will just do a hop, skip, and a jump all over our place. Chet

 

I would recommend the Polaris Xplorer 400 for sure. It's a 4x4, BUT it can be put in 2 wheel drive with a flick of a switch. The engine is a 378cc 2-stroke, just like the one that they put in the scrambler (without a tuned pipe, and different clutching). The only real difference between the Xplorer and the Scram 400 4x4 is that the Xplorer is more utility oriented mainly because It has front and rear racks. The engine is deffinatly capable of putting out some major power. I suppose that since it is the same engine as the Scrambler, that it can be fitted with HPD's full race kit, which produces 72hp (I don't know why you would want to do that anyway).

The only downfalls about this quad is that it is a tad on the heavy side (suprise, suprise...who'd have thought that Polaris would make a heavy ATV?), and somepeople just plain hate the automatic trans. Personally, I think it's a plus for most conditions, but everybody's different.
