250r and 400ex axle?

Will a 400ex axle fit on a 250r?
Also, is a stock "86 R axle adjustable? When I bought my R, I was told it had a durablue adjustable axle on it, but I think it may be stock cause someone told me that a stock 86 axle is adjustable. How could I tell?
