IMS makes good cranks. I have a complete one in my CR. As for stroking it big bore is cheap horsepower but if you really want the most power stroke it. It accelerates the speed that your piston travels and you get more power yet.

Not sure about the exact affect on the "R" but generally stroking slightly reduces the ultimate redline (the point of 2800' per second for the con rod in standard/durable/non exotic designs.(it's simple steel conrods bust at 3000' per second, no other way around it other than titanium or the like ) But will yeild an increase in torque below the redline, so are you a torquey kind of guy or rev happy(if rev happy leave the stroke alone)?

Elrancho that should be feet per minute.

This limit has been established (an average) of about 4000 FPM for high output motors - 5000 FPM for short drag racing (rare) -
even more rare are the top fuelers who go as high as 6000 FPM

I stand corrected, the numbers are getting dusty up there, and it was late.

stock cranks are actually pretty good for most uses. If you want the strongest setup available, put an IMS hotrod kit onto your stock crank halves, and have it trued and welded.

Keep in simple and play it safe, use the OEM Honda rod. It's the best rod on the market by far, and IMS is the worst, IMHO. Every IMS rod we've used has broke. It might have been a bad "batch", I dunno, but I wouldn't take any chances. When a rod goes, it takes out a lot of parts.....

perhaps you did get a bad batch, but you are right, the stock rod is pretty beefy, but its also designed for ~35 hp, while the Hot Rod was made with higher horsepower in mind. I've only heard of one breaking on a 440cc Polonda motor setup for drag racing that turns 10,500 rpm. On other applications, I'm not sure about the Hot Rod, but the 250R is another story

either way, you should be good to go TRXtoysRus.

I heard the PSI kits were supposed to use the stock rods because they were strongest. Not that PSI is any good or anything.
