Oil Question
#1
I bought a used 2000 Honda Foreman 450 ES that has an extended warranty until March of 2003. It's getting time for me to do my first oil change. My question is... should I use the Honda oil since it is still covered by an extended warranty? If not, what kinda of oil is the best. I've heard that with automatic clutches you don't want to use synethic because of clutch slippage, even though synethic gives the best protection against heat. What weight of oil should I use. And also, I have no idea how to tell what kind of oil filter I need. Thanks greatly for any help

Hello, South Foreman--- In my opinion, you should stick with the Honda GN4 oil. Are you doing the service(s) yourself? If so, KEEP your receipts for all your service parts to document that you have taken care of the needed maintenance should there be a warranty problem. That is what I was told to do by MY dealer. About oil, I use 20-w50 in the(consistently) hot weather in my 450-S, and 10-w40 in cooler weather. I would use the stock Honda oil filters. Be careful when you tighten the oil filter cover, use your torque wrench. The bolts are easily stripped. On tires, when you are ready for new.... try the Titan 589 M/T's, they are AWESOME!!!
