Honda 250EX--I realize it's an entry-level machine. do any of you own this or know someone who does? How is it? responsive and quick?? or the complete opposite? what do YOU think about it?

I have heard good about the 250ex to. The only thing people say is bad about the 250ex is the shocks kinda suck, and the seat is really hard, other than that, its good!!

my girlfriend bought one when they first came out... actually, she had the very first one in Delaware.... so I've spent a lot of time on it, and I am impressed for it being a hopped up Recon...

And also, this months dirtwheels has an article on how they outfitted a 250EX and took it to a motorcross track and finished 6th out of 15 riders.... passing Banshees, 400EX's and such

I think it is an EXCELLENT trail riding machine.... I mean, lightwieght, sporty suspension, shaft-driven, auto-clutch, electric start, reverse... it has it all...

the 250ex...personaly,i feel that i like it better than the 300ex.
call me stupid, but getting off the 300 and onto the 250,was a surprising ride. i got the 250 for my son, well i end up gettin' it for myself and selling the 300. i feel the turn ratio is much better. i live in eastern kentucky, there is some good hills to climb. with no worries on the clutch,i felt like a newbie, that knew what he was doing. the drive shaft vs. the chain(although if it were to snap it would cost alot more) is another relief,no sprockets, no adjustments,no chain breaking in the middle of the woods. i only weigh 180,so the handling seems to be grrreat with me. i can stand it up in 1st gear, and hold it there through 5th. jumps smooth, and easy to control while in the air. everybody has a opions on everything...this is mine. if you knew someone close around to test run one,you would be surprised!!!

I bought one in July for me and my two boys. We love it. I (210lbs)take it out on sunday mornings, meet up with many other bikes and have no problem keeping up with the leaders. People knock it because of the auto clutch and shaft drive but the ease does not bother me and it's a plus whenever a novice wants to take a spin. I would recommend the 250ex to anyone.

Our 250 has been great, except for the tires. With the stock tires, the front end pushes (understears) quite badly and the bike is a little tippy. A change to Holeshot tires cured both problems real quick!! Keep in mind that we ride a lot of desert hardpack, so the tires may perform better in some soft Michigan loam.
