I just bought an '86 250r. It is in MINT condition accept for a dent in the bumper, it sat in storage for 12 years, and I got it for $3000. It runs great but theres one thing i dont like about it. It has a twist throttle on it, where can I buy a thumb throttle?

You may also want to try E-Bay. I've seen lots of thumb throttle assemblies on there.

 

If you cant find the thumb throttle for the R, any honda one will work. I am using one off a 300ex on mine and it works fine.

 

You could also go to any Bike repair shops that have old bikes and look for one that has a thumb throttle. Then just offer some money for it. R.R.

 

Are you kidding? Why do you want a thumb throttle when you have a twist one?
I have a Tri-Z and since long time ago I UPGRADED to twist. Once you get
used to it, it is a lot better and less tiring. Anyway whenever I find a good
250R the first thing I doing to it is to put a twist throttle (among other mods).
Just my 2 cents. Try it for a while you'll like.
