looking at 86 250r
#1
I am looking at buying a 86 250r. This thing is all stock except slip on DG silencer and k.n filter air box is still stock. The guy is asking 2950 for it and it is in great shape. The plastic has very few scratches, seat is perfect and it runs very strong. He doesnt know but thinks it still is original bore because that is what he was told when he purchased it. The frame is great my 99 is more beat up than this thing. What should I look for, what is the stock compression, and I noticed it has a reed spacer and also the right side case gasket is green. Is this the stock color of gasket or has it been apart, also did they all have reed spacers? Thanks for any info you can give me. The guy said he really didn't know the back history but from looking at the quad is was very well maintained and cared for.

Hey man, I just got my 1st R too. Unless the guy didn't EVER ride the bike, it should be rebulit. There's nothing wrong with a rebuilt motor.. it's a must on a 2stroke(you know this). It sounds like it's in really good shape for $2950, and I think that you would be a fool to pass it up! Especailly since STOCK 250R's are bringing $4500 in Cali.
