I was just wondering, is there any reason other then extra dirt getting in to the filter that you can't just remove the big box for the air filter and just bolt it on direct?
I dont ride in water and mud so that is not a concern.
Thanks for any input.

It keeps out alot of extra dirt and mostly it's for water and mud and junk like that. PLUS if something like stick should fly up and hit it the box will prevent the filter from getting torn or worse ripped off. If you just race or dont ride in dusty conditions without water/mud then you should get a kit that sells for like $30 and it remove the airbox, so theres just a filter. It will give you more flow.
