why not put reverse on it? What does it(reverse) weigh 4 Lbs? Race cars have reverse

<< Ok if Honda puts the CR450F in a quad frame they better not put reverse in it >>

GAPracer7 -

u should try to use 'you.'

You should also try racing a harescramble. You're lucky to have 6 inches on each side of your quad in tight sections lined with trees. One tiny miscalculation, and you're off the quad backing it up. Not only that, but you're lucky if no quads are behind you, waiting impatiently for you to right your quad.

I would love reverse on my 400ex for that reason alone.

I would rather have an extra forward gear than have reverse. Dirb bikes and performance snowmobiles don't have reverse, so why would sport quads need them?

This is the type of ignorance I am talking about from GAPracer7 I nor did anyone say that you HAVE TO have reverse on a sport quad I am just saying that at one time or another you will need to get off and pull (a situation where REVERS would be nice) maybe you have NEVER in your life needed to turn around in a tight spot but like i said before sometimes there's no room to turn around. Also maybe you should try removing reverse from your car or truck and see how that is if your such the expert.

<<If YOU wanna ride harescrambles, get a utility if u want reverse. I dont see bill ballance havin any trouble without reverse>>

That's just plain stupid on your part, get a utility? So I guess the 300EX Raptor warrior and every other quad with reverse is for utility purposes only huh?

ALSO I am 100% positive that Bill Balance has had to get off and turn it around be had before.

After learning (on this post) that reverse is no longer needed, I am going out right now to rip the lever off and put it on EBAY. If, God forbid, I find myself needing to use the R-word at Haspen tommorrow, I will just leave her on the trail and walk my a$$ back to the truck in shame and have my little guy drive me home in case we have to back out of the lot. Being 9 years old he won't realize what a ***** move using reverse is so we will be fine. In fact, when we get home we will lock out R on his Breeze to make him a pro like you guys. I'll tell him it's what the "big boys" do, so he'll buy it.

Go bullsh!t your old lady...

Lot of B.S. flying around for a motor that probably will never see duty in a production quad. I personally don't want reverse, but my quad doesn't weigh that much.

ok guys listen up. when your building a race quad you don't put anything on there you don't need. that includes reverse. is reverse nice to have? hell yeah it is, its part of the reason that new suzuki is so appealing to me. but you definately don't need it and if you HAVE to have your reverse u just must be some kind of wuss. i'm not saying that warrior/300ex/whatever riders are wusses but if your quad didn't have reverse would u still ride it? reverse it just one more thing to break on your quad.

How did this turn into a "reverse" conversation? anyways, just picked up the november issue of Dirtwheels, on page 12 "over the bars" they talk about the possibility of the "TRX450F" I think the picture of the aluminum frames are actually of Cannondales though.

Ridzhard, I agree that it is alot of bs. That is part of the problem. Imagine some Honda engineer was to screen these posts. If they were looking at putting the CR450 in a quad it would be my guess they were planning on building an all out no frills race quad. Then they see these posts were people are asking for reverse, electric start, and who knows what is next...racks, 4wd.

Unfortunately, the atv market is so broad that people want like do everything quads. Many of us know that there are few products that are going to meet all aspects of their market demand. So basically, since so many of us want everything it seems as though quite often we get nothing.

Now back to the CR450 quad. I would put my name on a list tomorrow if Honda was to announce the release of this quad. I would also be building my own this winter, but the AMA has speculated on banning motorcycle engines from race quads in the GNC's for 2003, and I am not going to build a $20K conversation piece.

Just out of curiosity. Who would buy a CR450 powered quad? Would you race it?

I don't want reverse, if it will save a few pounds. None of my ATV's have reverse. One of my wifes does (a 250EX), but that is all. I don't miss it on my machines. It is sure handy for her though. (not trying to imply that reverse is for women...!! )
