Would I be able to get '88/'89 plastic for my '86 250R? I'd like a light, but have yet to put it back on, because it looks better without one.

Another thing I'd like to do is get the '88/'89 shorter swingarm for my TRX, making it even more maneuverable and wheelies a snap.

As I understand, the 250R didn't go through any major chassis changes, allowing a person to make these switches. Am I right?

I have an 86 trx 250R and have put 89 plastics with light hood on my 86 they fit just fine. As for the swingarm it is shorter and alot lighter than an 86 swingarm. The 88-89 swingarm is made of aluminum as the 86 is made of steel the swingarms are interchangeable.

You can easily change the plastic. Though the head light might be a little tricky.

The swing arm is a whole different question.

Yes it will fit. It will no longer have the lower back motor mounts which the motor needs (time to fabricate some). Plus the shock linkage is a differant length. The shock will work but it should be revalved for the new leverage it will incure.

Your best bet is to have a qualified machinest shorten your '86 swing arm (usually between $100 and $175) then rework your shock.

Good luck...

PS the steel on will last much longer than the aluminium. The aluminium one start to crack up after a long and hard race series.

Cool, so it IS possible to actually turn your '86 into an '88/'89, right?

Speaking of the light, how do you actually get it to stay in place? Does it pop in, or what?

Thanks, this info is extremely helpful...
