Has anyone broke a coil on thier works shocks?? I recently looked at mine and noticed that one of the small coils in my triple rated shocks is broken. I am wondering how much this will cost...

Thanks
Jeremy

My coil never broke on my Works Shocks, but I did bend them twice. After the second time I told them I was not pleased and wanted my money back. I have another friend who had the same problem.

Nope...never broke a spring.

Never bent one either. I jump my machines pretty aggressively.... I don't know..maybe I'm lucky.

No I dont think your lucky I just had bad luck . My buddy and I are the only people I have heard of this happening to in my area. I ride a 400ex and my other buddies ride 250r's and just about all of them have Works Shocks and have no problems. Its just my friend (who also has a 400ex) had such a bad time with his I did not want to go through it like he did when mine first bent so I said I wanted my money back. He bent his three times and I bent his once. I bent it at Loretta Lynns this year on a small jump after the 10 commandments. The shock looked like a J it bent so bad. I will go with Custom Axis from now on.

Never broke a coil.. I'm not sure how expensive they are, but you could get the PEP kit put on them. Never bent mine either. They are alot more plush than the Ohlins I have on my 250R too.

I broke the large spring on my banshee and it run me about 90.00.But that was the biggest spring so i would think the smaller ones would be considerably less.

I'm getting the DRS with rezzies for my X on front and I'm wondering does works make a rear shock thats under $500? I found it in Dennis Kirk. I'm going to ride some trails but mostly motocross. Or does anybody else make a shock good enough for this type of riding for less? I need a shock for the rear since I constantly bottom out but $500 sounds a little expensive.

I broke the small springs on 250X works shocks twice. The first time I had them both replaced (about $12 each). After they broke the second time (within a year), I took the works off and put the stock shocks back on.

Thanks for all your help. Those of you that said that you got your money back, how did you manage that??? The shock that I broke was one of the small ones too. A local shop said that they would fix it for whatever the price of the spring and $40.00 labor. That sounds reasonable considering I would have to pay for shipping to and from California probably. Again thanks to all of you

only some hint's here .
1. make sure you tighten the bolt's to 15ft lbs ONLY with lock tight
2. you need to make sure alinment is perfect .
that is what makes most shocks fail
my 2 cents
