What up fella's-

I just got back from a trip to the dunes in Utah- and realize how worthless my 400ex is in the sand. NO TRACTION = lame jumps = occasional rollovers due to not cresting the 40' tall dune.

it's time to buy some paddles-

I'm seeing the V-shaped Skat Tracks - or the straight edge haulers.

What do you guys have?- and what's the difference?

I prefer the V-shaped Skat-Traks (they are called "Edge&quot. They let you pivot more quickly than the straight ones (called haulers). Go with at least 8 paddles!! 6 won't cut it even on a 300.

Thanks for replying to my thread....

From what my local shop told me-

Haulers are for straight Hill climbs and the V shaped are for turning performance.

Most of the dune riding I do are searching for that perfect Launch and Landing. Therefore- most of my riding will be straight on- hitting the jump and landing.

Now- would the haulers prevent me from doing (i forget the name) those quick turn-arounds where I spray the sand up the top of the dune?

We have 6-400ex's in our group and four of them are women. Nobody runs paddles and they do fine down there. Okay they can't get up Sand Mtn, but who cares. It should be called EEEEGO Hill. My wife has 20x10x8 six paddle gliders that she doesn't use. No I'm not selling them, but the few times she has used them I liked them. I liked them better then eight paddle haulers. The quad revs freely and doesn't have all that front end push in the corners. It also doesn't feel like there is an anchor in the sand when you let off the gas too.

There are 4 people that have 400EX's in my dune riding groups. We all have Skat Trac 20x10x10 8 paddles. We do mostly sand hill climbs and dune jumping. Two of us use to have the v shape paddles but they didnt work as well getting up the hill. Dont get me wrong, the v paddles are good sand tires, for trails and sidehilling. But for straigt up hill climbs I think you would be much happier with a straight tread design. We also do sand trail rides with our Haulers and never seem to have any problems.

My buddy has 8 paddle haulers on his 400 and he also has a set of the edge paddles, he won't even use the edge paddles anymore, he likes the hauler much better. I have some sand skate II's and don't really care for them either. I would go haulers.
