How's it going guy? I haven't been to the LA. dunes but it's in Forest Hill. From what I understand it's very nice, but it's not free. I don't think there's a website. Forest Hill has plenty of trail riding that's free & that's where I've been.

LA Dunes is actually an abandoned gravel/sand pit that's about 300 or so acres of sand with hills and flats. We go there about once a month and always have a good time. In fact, we were there last weekend. There is always lots of drag racing going on, which is what we like to do. Paddles are not a necessity but they make it easier to get around in the "dunes". There are two nice lakes there to cool off in during the summer (it gets HOT on the sand during the summer months!!). The campground is pretty nice also. There are RV hookups, restrooms, and showers there. Admission is $15 per day or $25 for the weekend. Let me know where you're coming from and I'll give you directions. It's not hard to find at all.

Very close to LA dunes is Camp Claiborne - an old abandoned military camp. There is quite a bit of trailriding with hills, etc. but no sand. One thing if you go - hope you have health insurance. I'm an orthopaedic surgeon at the hospital they'll take you to if things go bad - and trust me that they often do at those two places. Usually the bad stuff that I get happens on Sunday afternoon when everyone is tired and bored, and the real daredevil stuff begins. Probably 50% of the quad accidents I see come from either LA dunes or Camp Claiborne. Be careful, and watch out for all the other guys who aren't as careful.
