Exactly!
You should worry about even getting a 300ex before you worry about modding it.
Coming off a Bayou 220 your going to find the 300ex has plenty of power.
I came off a 300 4x4 and it took me a lil while to get used to the 300ex's power but as of now I am looking for more.
Don't listen to what people say about the 300 because it does have plenty of pep for a 282cc sohc 4 valve air cooled motor.
I say you wait till you actually get some time in on the stock 300ex before you go switching motors and such.
You not having any experience with a clutch... getting on a 300ex with a 350x motor or a big bore 300ex is going to be in some trouble.
The 300exs frame is made to handle the stock motor and nothing too much more.
In the end you will realize that you will have more fun on a stock 300ex than one that is totally modded.
Think about this.. getting on a modded 300ex for the first time .. riding it and hurting youself badly.. I'm pretty sure you aren't going to want to get back on that machine anytime soon.
As a beginner you are better off leaving it stock.

i third that. i just read your post on how to wheelie. if you don't know how to do a wheelie and your "scared" of them there is no way you should have or need any more power than the stock 300EX will give you.

Some sort of big bore would probably do the job. I think you'll probably have to do some radical engine modifications to get a 300ex faster than a 400ex tho.
Or you could just take the easy route and buy a Raptor, Banshee, or a 250R.

I agree too,you just need to chill and worry bout learnin to ride before you start bustin out super mans and wheeling. As far as ridin a wheelie, dont be scared,as long as you take it slow(2nd gear or lower)and are on level ground you will just slide off and it wont fall on you.Wear a helmet-safety first
