while ice fishing last weekend I noticed the "es" system functioned at less than op. level. It shiffted slowly, at times didnt shift at all!!. Air temp was -15.... Big yellow did start easy..5 weight oil helps. After 5 minute warm up I was able to "rock n load" into 1st gear .I crept along for about 100 feet pushin buttons before it engaged.I traveled about 1.5 miles out pulling gear, taking it easy.It shiffted normally there after.Any comments, suggestions would be appreciated! Also noted..Pixles on display became "blocked" but returned to normal quickly..It was a little nippy !!

I am sorry but that is SOP for the 450ES. I have a 98 that does the same thing. I have to wait 2 or 3 minutes for warm up to even shift into reverse. Next oil change I am going to use Amsoil 10w-40 synthetic motorcycle oil. Maybe that will cure the problem.

Same problem up here in northern Canada, usually not a problem if you let the bike idle for 5-10 minutes before heading out

Holy cow..Here in oregon we can only wish for such cold weather.. id kill to see -15. Personly I would use Amsoil 0W30 for that climet as amsoil will still protect fine when the temp rises

My 450s is no problem and so far my wifes 4 x 4 Rancher ES has also had no problem at -15 but then I have always let them warm up for about 5 minutes when it is that cold .

Up here in new brunswick I drive all year round at +90 to -30 and have had no problems with my Foreman es. However recently i decided it was time to adjust my clutch since I had 6000km. When adjusted I went to try it whereas I began to have problems so I backed my adjuster out a bit more and perfect. My suggestion is that this be one of the first things you check if your machine is new. It only stands to reason the tighter the clutchs the harder it will be to shift. One very satisfied Foreman owner.
