400ex vs raptor fer woods ?

<< ok mnwildfan here we go
5. we are building a jump across the streem . it will be intense to say the least . It will be from bank to bank 65ft from bottom to top of the bank is 11ft deep. after the ramps are done it will be in the 70ft range. Im not sure I will have the guts to be the first to jump it . the banks are steep and there is no turning back if you come up short .you can come down and be the first if you want ? >>
You let me know how that goes. I would love to see the first person across that gap. Sounds like fun but a bit nutty for someone like me. Thanks for the offer though. The route you have taken with your 400 is what I would consider good an reliable. I was refering to a 440 big bore kit on race gas as being high strung. See ya...

yes my ex has been on the dyno 5 times for tuning and changing cams ect ect ...lrd has kits for the ex that will get you 60+ hp . with my stock modded carb my peek hp is 44 with my fcr39 carb it is 49.6 . 50 hp was just a generalization of what you need . bump the comp upto 13:1 and the hp #'s will grow but the motor will have to be a race motor only , and if you stall it . your done , it wont restart.

trx400exguy- the only flaw i see in your logic is that if the radiator hoses are shreded that really has little to do with the overall choice of machine.
i'm not trying to flame you but i'm saying that in racing- stuff happens. i've seen score/corr trucks that cost $500,000 break and not finish. does that mean i'll sell my Ford. probably not.
the information i was looking for was more along the line of - i ride the 400 cuz it handles like a lotus or i think the raptor is better cuz it wil pull a taller gear and its like owning a big block (raptor) compared to a small block (400ex). i guess if we were to use that analogy - i know you can wind up a small block to make awesome hp and the big block can make the hp too but they seem to have more torque. am i miss guided ? i invite any respones. again im not trying to flame anyone or call someone out but i guess i'm trying to make my question more clear.

i've ridin alot i ridin plenty of sport quads, including the raptor at the 400ex. i personally love the 400. i now ride a warrior and am thinking of buying a 400ex. iridin my friend's raptor and my brothers 400ex. i think the 400ex handles alot better, it just feels better in the air and in the woods. trust me i think you would be alot better off with a 400ex.

I'll tell you this- if you put 22" tires on ANY quad- your going to see a BIG difference in traction as well as ground clearance. While your bud is hung up on a stump- you are storming down the trail!
Here's some for sale on ebay- I think the auction closes at 11:00 am on Sunday (mountain time).
