Crappy FMF Megamax for 300ex
#1
I bought a Megamax pipe, K&N and Dynojet for my '93 300ex. I put it together as instructed, and it made some definite improvements. After beating my quad a few times, I noticed the pipe was starting to come apart. There are 4 screws that hold the silencing core and the disc screw mount to the body of the pipe. The pressure from the exhaust is actually pushing the whole assembly out of the pipe housing. These 4 screws are ripping through the pipe's metal housing! I figured they might have loosened up a little, so I re-tightened them, put some Smurf **** on to hold them in place, and rode it. The same thing happened again. Does anyone else have this problem?
It's pretty amazing that we'll drop $200 bucks for some stamped sheet metal parts. It's more surprising that it falls apart so easily.

i heard things like that from other owners of a megamax 1, i would talk to FMF about it and see if you can give them a few extra bucks to update to a megamax 2 caus i heard the 2 is alot better quality than 1. tell me how it turns out. L8R
