400ex- When to change the bearings/bushings?

If you mean suspension bearings, you shouldn't hafta change them for quite sometime. I don't have an EX to look at right now (my friends took theirs home), but if its got grease fittings on the A-arms or Swingarm, give them a few shots of grease every other ride or so, if not once or twice a year strip them down and pack some good ol heavy duty mining-grade grease in them (don't use on wheel bearings-not a high speed grease) Oh, grease them more often if you ride in water alot.....P.S. I just replaced every suspension and wheel/axle bearing on my Zilla cuz the previous owner didn't believe in grease, and cost me just about $700....most were Pivot Works kits, but the cushion lever was all Suzuki O.E., so take the time to use a 2 dollar tube of grease......

MY SON PUT THAT FIRST MESSAGE IN WITH OUT ADDING THE WHOLE STORY. YES WE CHANGE BEARINGS EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS BUT WE ALSO RIDE 3 TO 4 TIMES A WEEK IN THE MUD AND TIMBER. CONSTANT TORQUE AND A LITTLE BIT OF GRIME TAKES BEARINGS OUT FAST. IF I FEEL THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF MOVEMENT IN THE AXLE THEY ARE CHANGED.ITS MUCH CHEAPER THEN AN AXLE.
