I am planning on buying a second set of plastic for the front of my 40oEX and plan on cutting them. I am looking for plastic that will accomidate the front headlights so I can still ride in the dark. How many of you have replaced the plastic and what company and how much. Thanks!

Factory front plastic is only $80. Buy it that
plastic is as good as it gets.

The only other company (that I know of anyway) that offers aftermarket plastic is Maier. You can get seven different colors and you can get the race front end (I believe it doesn't have the cut out for the headlights, like the 250R). But be prepared to pay a premium for them though. Maier is about $400 a set compared to about $150 for a factory set. Also the factory set is injection-molded and Maier is vacuum-molded. The differece--injection gives a smooth, shiny finish and the vacuum gives a pitted, dull finish (orangepeal).

If you look in the ads in any ATV magazine you can find aftermarket maier plastic for the 400EX for $200.00 front and rear. I am going to get a set and cut the fronts for the dunes and keep my originals in good shape, and maybe for winter riding.
