Blaster vs 250EX
#12
I "way" 125 pounds. I do 5 feet jumps almost every day. I got six one time. But until get some better shocks I won't make a habit of it. I think the blaster stands no chance against the 250EX. Well except for the clutch some prefer having that.

Im not sure I understood your question. I think you just agreed with me. Im not sure Anyway when you said the top speed is higher, how high is the unmodified blasters top speed? Im not disagreeing with you cuz i have not ridden a blaster. But i know they only have 183cc's while the 250EX has 229cc's.

well, i have a buddie who has a 2000 Blaster and this is his second one and when i bought my 250 he loved it, he has been trying off and on to sell it and buy him a 250ex, he says it has more room, lands better, and it a heck of alot better in the woods than his blaster.

I agree that the 250EX is a good trail ride but thats it. The Blaster is Faster and more powerful because it is a 2 stroke EXAMPLE in drag races 250 2 strokes LT250's Tecates, ect ect run against 400EX's and if they are both totaly stock then the 2 strokes will win.
Also the blaster is 195cc, the six speed gives it taller gears so it has a higher to speed. the top speed of the blaster is right about 55 but with a new front sprocket you can make it much faster. For the amount of money you can save on buiying a blaster you really get a much better value, with tha money you can get a good set of tires, a pips and some reads and with the right gearing it would blow away a 300EX 250EX, ect it could probably keep up with a 400EX (someone on EXriders says this too, I forget who.)
All in all If you want to go faster and keep the same machine get the blaster, learn to ride it good get some mods for it and haul **** ! if you get a 250EX your screwed on whe you want it to handle better and go faster.

The way I see is this, you can mod the Blaster's engine all you want, but you are going to handle like crap, remember they don't handle great in stock trim, and yes I would know I have ridden one, you would also have brakes that dont work well, which they don't work well in stock trim, so anyways if you modify the engine, you will have to modify the chassis to take the extra power as well as the brakes. The Blaster is also smaller in size, which cramps a lot of people, the 250EX isn't real big either but it can take a little bit bigger people. I am not dissing the Blaster at all, they are a fun little bike, but you all are talking about modifying the engines to run with 400EX's, but you can't forget about the chassis side of things.

"First off the blaster is a two stroke which right away makes it not a very good trail rider. You can also mod a 250EX just as you can a blaster."
If you know how to ride a 2 stroke then it is a great trail machine, just because you do not know how to drive a 2 stroke right doesn't mean it's not good.
Can you buy an aftermarket swignarm, a arms, axle, ect for a 250EX? Of course not! When you want to make your 250EX faster what do you do? Get a pipe or a 300 KIT...those will just make you accelerate faster and maybe add 6 or 8 MPH then you will just be hitting the rev limiter, when you want a lot better handling what do you do? tires only do so much and unless you want to loose speed then you'll have to stick with big 22's. Do you get my point?
