There's something up with your machine. 300EX's are very fuel efficient. I know this because on our trailrides that we go on, some days we all ride the same distance, then we check how much gas each uses at the pump. Actually all Honda's seem to be very efficient. The 300EX easily was the most efficient of the bunch (Sportsman 500's, Kawasaki Lakota, Honda ForemanES). Even my brother's 400EX used less gas than my cousin's '97 Kawasaki Lakota. He was really surprised. And my dad's Foreman450ES is easier on gas than the Sportsman 500's were. This is because you can "cruise" in a higher gear and the engine can be running at a low rpm but still keeping up with the pack. Did you rejet after you put that K&N power kit on?

This problem may not be your bike. It mite be the tipe of riding you do. All EX models (300 and 400) have a bad gas leakage problem out of the gas overflow line. This is do to the carb having a large bowl and a non-adjustible float. The gas will literally run out when you are doing wheelies or riding up hills. I believe some are worse than others. My group that I ride with, a total of 5 EX's have gone riding without wheelies and hills and have lasted a long time (3-5hr). When we have gone riding doing nothing but wheelies and or hill climbing we go thru a tank of gas in about 45 min. Try plugging your fuel overflow line and go riding for a day. We have been told that this is not hard on the machine as long as it doesn't roll upside down and keep running. Try it out. Good luck and let me know if it improved.

Yeah, sounds like the float to me too..I hate those non-adj plastic float's.. Pluggin the line is a good idea, When friends ride in rough terrain it just poors out the line.. I pluged there lines and solved there problem, although when they climmed super steep long hills they sometimes bogged out. Just have to split your prefferences
