i was thinking about ordering some 18 inch turf tamers, and notice that nacs grooves them for ten bucks a tire which is a ok price i guess. but i was wondering if anyone grooves the tires themselves and what they use to groove them. Also if anyone knows of any other cheaper places that will groove them for you.
thanks,
Chris

Groove them. They hook up alot better when you have the tread pattern cut out. Nacs does do it for $10 a tire, but I have a pair of clippers we use to do pigs feet, and I have grooved with them. They work good, as long as they're sharp. But, to some people, it's worth $10.

If your sittin around on the weekend and you have nothing to do and you are really bored, you could pull out the trusty pocket knife. That extra $20 could get you... gas. Thats comin from the cheapest guy in Winnsboro TX. I'm lookin forward to the day after Valentines day. (inside joke)

There are groovers available for home use. They look like a soldering iron on steroids! Don't know price , but think they can be had for under $100. I have used 'em before on Rally Car tires. Works nice.

Check with NAPA auto parts and/or Summit Racing. Both are online. Ask for a "tire grooving tool".
Good luck!

Sears sells a cutter from Channel Locks. It takes about 15 min a tire.
