450 (General)

Well BigRed450, I've been TRYING to post here but they've been doing upgrades.
I got my 99 450 back yesterday, along with my wallet being $130 lighter. Why, you ask?
Well, the highlifter kit I purchased for my Foreman didn't live up to it's expectations.
The Super Trapp pipe and the K&N filter kit with the secondary intake tube worked fine and were easy to install. The jet kit, however, did not.
A few weeks ago I installed the .142 jet per highlifters directions that came with the Dynojet kit. I attempted adjustments but to no avial. It had a bad, lean miss at mid-high rpm's and ran VERY rich at low RPM's. No problem, off to the local cycle shop to see if they can figure it out.
First trip there we thought we had it right. Adjusted the needle in various positions etc etc etc. Condensing this somewhat,it didn't work. Moving ahead 3 weeks, I finally had enough of the hard starting and poor performance so back to the cycle shop it went.
A different person checked it this time, with an EGA. I knew right off the bat we had a lean miss at mid-high RPM's and a horrible rich condition at low rpm's. He took the carb apart and dropped in a smaller jet to develop a baseline. Still no luck. This time though, he dropped in a .1525 main jet and 2 turns out on the idle screw. Voila! There can be NO dispute whatsoever. The EGA was calibrated and worked fine. Consdering my results, trial and error just doesn't cut it, PERIOD!
The ATV came alive. We were joking about someone else with a 99 450 also who had a big jet and we swore up and down that was too much jet for that ATV. Not so and the EGA proved it. CO % was where it should be along with HC at idle and throughout the power band. The tech did place a call to Dynojet earlier that day and they stated the kit I received was NOT intended for the Foreman 450 S. It would work ok for the 400 series and below but not mine.
Why did highlifter sell me a kit that even Dynojet states will NOT, repeat NOT work properly in my ATV???? I'd be only mildly irritated if I had wasted just the $50 or so for the cost of the jet kit but as it stands now I am out 4 hours labor @$40.00/hr. all because the jet kit wasn't meant for my ATV.
I'm thoroughly pleased with the way it performs now, no hard starting, choke works as designed and it pulls MUCH harder than stock. I rode a stock 450 A and rode mine and mine was noticeably quicker all around. I'm disappointed with highlifter and doubt I will be purchasing anything from them again. Price notwithstanding, I wish companies would research their products further, especially with regards to something as small as a carb kit. I feel there are WAY too many *wasted* parts within the carb kit. All foreman owners need are the .1525 main jet and the adujustable needle along with decent directions.
We also verified the results with 3 spark plugs. 1st was black all around, 2nd was mildly black, 3rd was clean.
Can I seek retribution for being sold an unusable kit? Not a chance, but I can exercise my right as a PAYING customer to shop elsewhere for my ATV products which I shall do from now on.

I am interested in installing a supertrapp ids on my 450. I would like to know if it makes a noticeable difference in power. Can you just bolt it on or do you have to make carb adjustments to make it run right. How much louder is it than the stock system.
