Let me start by saying i'm new here, I've been out of atving for about 12 yrs. Previously I have owned three Honda ATC's,200s ,350x ,250r and loved all of them. I'm now thinking of getting a new 4x4 quad , as you can tell I've been partial to Hondas in the past, ( must be the old z50 I learned to ride on ) and am leaning to Honda now. My question is this, regardless of brand which 4x4 best suits my needs? I will be useing it for snow plowing ,trail rideing and hunting. I want something at least a little sporty , not a tractor. Also no belt drive autos, in my opinion there great on sleds but have no place on an atv. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Thanks for the replie atving, I've been to WV and you are not kidding about the terrain. We have bigger mountains here in NH but they don't seem nearly as steep as those in WV. I should say that I have looked at all the available models from the different companys,( four dealers within ten min. of my house)with the exeption of Hondas new models , the rancher and roubicon. The Honda dealer can't keep a rancher around long enough for me to even see one. All of my freinds own Polaris atvs, but they have all had problems, some minor some major. So Polaris is the only brand I'm not considering. So far I like the looks of the rancher, at least what I've seen in the magazines of it, and the Yamaha big bear. They are both fairly simple machines, with out alot of fancy gadgets to break or maintain. By the way I have freinds who hunt in WV every year, is it as good as they say? I'll take a closer look at the Cat machines, sounds interesting. Thanks again.

I would consider the Rubicon coming out in May. If you're not looking to wait that long, then check out the Ranchers. You said that you don't want a belt drive quad, so all Polaris's are eliminated except for the Xpedition 425 5-speed. Also machines with belt drives are Kawasaki Prairie's and the Yamaha Grizzly and Kodiak 400. And also the new Suzuki Quadmaster and Arctic Cat 500 Automatic. But I really think the rancher could satisfy your needs, and it is also a lot cheaper than the big bore machines. By the way atving, just wondering, but you said the Arctic Cat's rear suspension system is patented, but Suzuki's Quadrunner 500 and Quadmaster 500 use the same thing, are these two companies allies or something? I know Suzuki makes the engines for Arctic Cat machines, even their snowmobiles. Fill me in on the details.
