#1
ive been lookin for a new wheeler for a while and i was gonna get a ex like it says in my sig but yesterday my friend brought his r over to my house and i rode it and i like the feel of the 250 opposed to a 400ex that i rode but as i was sayin what is better for all around riding like trails some mx and dunes and i dont give a @#$% about reliability
i dont care if i have too work on it
with some thing this important i want some thing i feel comfortable riding

man i know what u mean, i have a 400EX but i love the feel of riding my cousins Rbut the way i look at it is, some of the used R's are bringing just as much as a new 400EX, but if u plan on racing alot, i beieve i would but a nice R. If i ever buy another used quad, it will be an R for sure.

Well I might be alittle biased but I recomend the 250R! I bought my R without even riding a 400EX but after I did finaly ride a 400EX i was glad I bought the R ~. I ride basically everywhere and the R proforms great eveywhere.

It's funny this came up, I too had never ridden a 400ex until last week. it was brand new, something like 4 or 5 hours on it.
I took a ride, when brought it back and I didn't even know what to say to the guy. I'm hoping it will get a little faster when it gets broken in more. We even chaeck the throttle cable to see if it was opening all the way.
I am really glad I got my R, I was even in the showroom with money in hand to get a new 400ex when I changed my mind.
My impression of the 400ex was that it had lots of power down low, but from half throttle up it seems to be dead, like it has a speed limiter. I would really like to try a hopped up 400ex, I would love the 400ex torque with some speed on top.

well ive never heard of anyone complain about any R and you always see someone complaining about a 400ex. i myself have a 250r and love it, but i will be getting a 400ex just to screw around on. you cant go wrong with an R but if you get a 400ex dont plan on winning any races in drag or mx. their not the fastest quads out there but sure are still fun to ride. thats cool that everyone thinks the r is better but i got one more question
when lookin for a used r what should i whatch out for like little proplems that could become big problems if no one did any thing about it

I recoment doing a search on this.It has been covered many many times.
Check for a cracked frame mainly.Around the steering stem mounts,Where the A-arms mount, upper shock mounts,Where the swingarm pivot bolt goes throught the frame,Just make sure the frame isn't cracked.Check the oil in the transmission. To do this U remove a small 10mm screw in the clutch side of engine. It says check oil.Right by it.Make sure the tranny shifts smooth.See how easy it finds nuetral. That is a good where to see if the clutch is on it's way out of not.See if the swingarm is cracked, check to see if the axle is tight, see if the cheain adn sprockets are good.
U can ussaully tell if a bike has been taken care of.
