Hey, i'm just curious to know a little about how the old 250X performs. My cousin is looking to get one. Any comments about this would be greatly appreciated.

The 250X, made in 1987-89, and 91-92, (correct me if I'm wrong on the years!)was a real nice machine. It had more compression then the 300ex has, has a kick starter, and is basically the same as the 300ex. Some people say it is faster due to the higher compression of the engine and the few pounds it is lighter, but I'm not sure if that is true. It is definitely as fast though. It is a very good machine.

I bought a 92TRX250X as a leftover in the Spring of 93. It was a great bike. Rock solid reliable - never failed me once. I clocked it once with another rider who had a bike with a speedometer over hard-pack dirt. As I recall it'd do about 45mph.

I ended up selling that bike about 2 1/2 years ago to a friend (he still has it and rides it a all the time) and bought myself a used '86 TRX250R. The performance of the 'R' is incredible compared to the 'X' of course - but that was/is expected.

One of my riding buddies has a 93 (I think) 300EX. Before I sold my 250X we raced side by side many times. The two totally stock bikes were nearly a dead-even match. So close that the slightest tweaks on one could provide the advantage.

Overall I could only say good things about my 250X - it was my first bike and it was a great one. I would personally highly recommend it. You won't go 65mph on it but for woods riding a good rider can fly on the 'X' - I ride with the guy who bought my 'X' and another guy who also has an 'X'. Tight woods riding reduces the advantage of my 'R' a bit. That and the fact that both of the guys I ride with are excellent riders (better then me for sure) makes for a close race everytime we go out.

I have a Supertrapp E.A.R exhaust FOR SALE. It fits 250x/300ex quads. It has a fist full of race power at a quiet level of noise.. It comes with the Supertrapp headpipe (bigger than stock to give more power). I completely sanded and painted it with high temp paint. I'll sell it for $100--Email me MOTOMAN446@aol.com

I've been riding a '87 250x now for about a month and a half and i love it. its a great machine and i would recommend you to get one. I've only had a few probles with mine like i had to replaces one of the rear hubs and get the valves tightend but thats about it. On a small flat track it will beat most warriors due to the better accelleration. So one again i would recommend you to get one.
