DuraBlue Eliminator 2+2 axle question...
#1
I recently put a Dura-Blue Eliminator Axle on my 400EX, and after torquing everything back together, noticed that the disc rotor and lock-nut's move a 1/16th of an inch. Dura-Blue says this is normal, because the splines are not EXACTLY the same size. Is this true / is anyone elses Eliminator axle like this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Those things are JUNK I had one on
my Raptor and that junk nut kept coming
loose and the sphines got so loose it
had about a inch on play after 6 months
so I got a lonestar and got new dics hub
and spocket hub and it fit nice and tight
you also use the two stock nuts which lock
it good I would send it back if you have not
used it because they told me sphines weren't
covered only bended or broken one's were once!!
so I put it in a press and bend it so they are
sending me a new one that I'll sell
hope this helps

The lock nuts arent actually loosening up at all--just that due to the splines not being exactly the same size, the rotor and lock-nuts can move 1/16 of an inch. Thanks for your comments redrocker, but i am looking for anyone with a 400EX with the STOCK LOCK NUTS, whether this small amount of play is "normal."

I have the Durablue 2+2 in two 400exs with stock axle nuts and no there should be no right to left play when standing behind the bike. When you lock the first nut the play should be gone. Then you lock the second nut to the first. I also use locktight. Something isnt right if you cant lock the play out with the first nut.All the nut does is push the nipple and rotor hub tight and pulls the sprocket flange tight. You need to find oput what is oose or in a bind. I am going to get a diferent lock too, The factory set up doesnt work well for aggresive riding or tt racing.

Oooooh front to back play when you grab the caliper and rotor. That will not hurt anything. I have had several stock 400exs with stock axles like that. All of mine have had a little play like you describe. You would think though with a new axle that the splines would make everything tighter. Ill check mine today for that. I havent really payed it any attention since installing the new axles but I will check it today.
But as long as the play doesnt get excessive it should not damage the splines of your axle. I dont think you have anything to worry about for a long time becasue when you apply brakes its always in one rotational direction(no reverse) so wear should be minimal.
