What mods are needed for a serious XC 300EX? I know tires are a must but what size, 20'' or 22''? Also skids are essential. But are there any other mods and would a 300EX stay with a 400EX in a XC race?

Must guys run 20" tires, but if the track has alot of ruts and is muddy
I would run 22" tires. For good handling get Works Shocks or any type of aftermarket shocks. And for the engine mods it depends on how much money you would want to spend.

I plan on racing my 300ex in the flat river grand prix.I think for that race I will run 22 inch 6 ply razr's.IT is really rocky down there so don't want to hit every rock.I normally run 20 inch 6 ply razr's.As for the motor I just plan on getting a pipe. And a K&N filter. In the woods U really don't need alot of power.I mean It isn't like U are going to be 5th gear topped out all the time.

I will be running stock wheels with 6 ply razr's like I said,Renthal handlebars,Ac bumper and full chassis skid. Not sure on the swingarm skid.I want a pro-tech.But I don't think they make one for the 300.I hope to be running 250r rear brakes by then to.So that will help ground clearance. For shock I will probably go works dual rates with res's.The rear should be fine.I don't plan on racing my 300 alot.

I don't have to all planned out yet.I think should this setup should be alright though.
