I got about 2 acres to work with (about 150 ft x 400 ft) and i have a track in mind. I think we are going to get a bobcat and a big backhoe (with a loader of course) to make the track. Anyway, do you have any ideas on how to get the dirt to make big tabletops without making the land terribly unstable or anything. The land will flood pretty easy so i dont want to dig in any one spot. Also, how would one go about making whoops, and also packing down the dirt good enough that it wont crumble or get destroyed when we ride on it. Also, how wide should i make it, i was thinking 9 or 10 feet wide would be enough for two quads. Just give me some good advise on building a track. Thanks

Derek

well one of the best dirt savors is to bury something big. like a big tile or old cars usually work wonders. just make sure you have at least a foot of dirt over it, you dont want anything sharp sticking out. if anything see if you cant haul in dirt, thats what we did on our private track. good luck to ya

You want to know something funny, as soon as i posted my first message here i thought maybe i could bury something huge like a car. Thats really weird. But then i started thinking if you maybe landed on it just right that the top could collapse in? Did you fill the interior with dirt or anything. Keep the comments coming, we have a three day weekend in about 2 weeks and i think we are gonna try and do it then.

I don't know if it is legal to bury a car. I would think there would be envionmental concerns. I assume you could pull/drain everything, but I would think it would still need to be inspected/certified befor burrial.

But then again...........wth do I know.

what the evironmentalist dont know dont hurt em. well the way to do it is take the wheels off and actually try to find a wrecked car in a grove or something. something that the roof is calapsed on. its no big deal, if its on yhour own property im sure you dont care then if anyting burried or not. just make sure you have enough dirt on them. but the best thing to bury for jumps though is large cement intakes. their strong and large enough to save alot of dirt.

I have 10 car's, 2 minivans and a full sized extended van in my track. It about 3/4 of a mile on about 6 acers. I smashed down the tops and flipped them over, otherwise the dirt would just work its way in and fill em up, also the tires give you a nice guide so you know when there is plenty of dirt. There is one MX track that I practice on that used old combines under the big jumps. On my bigger jumps I started one wide, two deep and the landing has two cars side by side. It works great for me, I'm always changing the jumps and its a lot faster to build them if I don't have to move much dirt.

anyone else? can you think of any spots i might be able to find cars for free? I found 1 for free and already talked to them about it, but im thinking i will need close to 6? I imagine junkyards would have them, but they would probably be 30 or 40 bucks (just a guess) im looking for free ones. Thanks.

Oh and from a different standpoint. Im guessing we should call all utilities companys and make sure there arent any gas lines or anything like thatunder the soil? Also there is a house about 400 yards down the road, if they complain about noise (it will be like saturday afternoons we ride, not tuesday nights at 1 am) could they (or the popo) tell us not to ride. What all signs do we have to post to make sure that someone doesnt sneak in, get hurt, and then sue (hey, its america) and should we gate the side closest to the road (that way if the do comein and try and sue, we could have them for breaking and entering) Also, any other stuff im forgetting? Thanks
